Criterion
Forest Measurement and Modelling.

The Criterion Laser is no longer manufactured.

It was a powerful measurement instrument that counld measure tree height, diameter at any visible point up the tree, as well as survey information (asmuth, distance and elevation). It was expensive (more than $20,000) and heavy.

When used correctly, the Criterion Laser has an accuracy of better than 1% for height and diameter.
