Forest Mensuration. Brack and Wood
There are essentially 3 reasons why these computer-based resources were developed for use in teaching forest mensuration:
- computer-based and networked information allows easy access to a wide variety of sources;
- information can be presented in various forms and formats (e.g. text with user selected fonts and sizes, graphics, photographs, and animations); and
- linking the various concepts and ideas in a hyperlinked format enhances users ability to appreciate the whole field of forest mensuration and improves their problem-solving abilities.
I hope that people involved in forest management will make regular use of this information and contribute to its growth. If you have any suggestions about additional material that could be added, please contact me at Cris.Brack@anu.edu.au.
Additional material could include:
- forest sampling developments
- instruments that are:
- in regular use
- newly developed or
- of unusual status;
- mensuration or inventory procedures (case studies) that were either successful or unsuccessful (especially with reasons for the success or failure);
- Unusual findings (e.g. heaviest crown ever weighed).
