Vale Geoff Park

Geoff Park, one of the founding NZ members of ASLE-ANZ and a great environmental historian, died on Wednesday after a short and courageous battle with [brain] cancer, discovered last November or so, and then quick surgery and generally okay health until the last month or so. He left a great legacy in his work and was working on a book on the early ideas around national parks in the US [in part on John Muir] and NZ, as well as research for Maori in Hawke's Bay progressing their Treaty of Waitangi claims.

Dear friends, colleagues and whanau of Geoff,

Geoff - Hepi, to his beloved mokopuna - passed away with courage and at peace, surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday afternoon, 17th March at Mary Potter Hospice, Wellington.

The service was held 20 March 2009 in Wellington

Any messages to PO Box 6800, Wellington.

Arohanui,
Turi, Matiu, Marika, Tim and Lindsay.
