Moisture Content Measurement

There are many methods for the measurement of wood moisture content; distillation, titration, nuclear and electrical systems have all been used for measuring MC [Stamm, 1964]. The simplest method and the method used in this study was to weigh the wood at a `bone dry' state and re-weigh the wood after reaching EMC at a given relative humidity. The percentage weight gain is related to the Equilibrium Moisture Content (EMC) by:
