This was performed on the Hounsfield Three Point Bend machine (Figure
) and associated software. The samples used were the
blanks. The software provides information on the MOE, the maximum
flexural stress, the deflection at fracture and a plot of the Load vs
Deflection curve. The MOR can be derived by the
formula:
Where the Load is interpolated from the plot. L is the span. and the and terms relate to the moment of inertia.
