Three Point Bend Testing

This was performed on the Hounsfield Three Point Bend machine (Figure gif) and associated software. The samples used were the blanks. The software provides information on the MOE, the maximum flexural stress, the deflection at fracture and a plot of the Load vs Deflection curve. The MOR can be derived by the formula:

 

Where the Load is interpolated from the plot. L is the span. and the and terms relate to the moment of inertia.
