Weathered Samples

A set of the cut samples (MDF and HD3, treated and untreated) were set up in two uncontrolled weathering environments.

• An exterior environment. The samples were placed on two angled weathering racks, one for each replicate, facing north on site at the A.N.U. Figure . They were weathered for 49 days from 29.5.96 to 17.7.96 (Canberra Autumn and Winter). Meteorological records for the ACT over this period have been obtained.
• An interior environment. The samples exposed to wet interior environment in a pub and a household bathroom. This exposed to the samples to regular hosing, alcohol, ammonia and detergents. They were weathered in the pub for three weeks, and the household bathroom for a further three weeks, Figure .

These two tests are aimed complement the controlled tests and show the performance of MDF in possible applications.
