Control Experiment for Moisture Content

An experiment is being run concurrently to test the changes in MC over a twelve week period. A chamber containing Sodium Chloride (NaCl), generating a R.H. of 75.8% was set up in the same way as the other chambers, and weights of all samples have been measured periodically. It is hoped that this representative R.H. will give insight to M.C. over time and clarify that the six week period for the major experiment is suficient time to generate a range of moisture contents (Figure gif.

Figure: Hypothetical curve showing typical moisture sorption for wood products. The control experiment is to identify at what time the moisture content is sufficiently close to equilibrium.
